Where should change really start?

Real change does not start with solutions. It starts by identifying where friction, confusion or missed opportunities are holding the business back, and then improving the areas that matter most.

Where to Start

When an organization wants to improve, the first instinct is often to jump into solutions. A new system, a new dashboard or a new process quickly becomes the focus. But meaningful change rarely starts there.

Second thoughts

The better starting point is understanding where the real friction sits. Where does work slow down? Where do responsibilities become unclear? Where do people lose confidence in the process or the information they use? Those are usually the places where change will have the biggest effect.

That also means change should not begin everywhere at once. In most organisations, progress comes from choosing a few areas that matter most and improving them step by step. This creates momentum, builds trust and helps people see that change can be practical rather than disruptive.

A business-first approach helps leaders decide where to begin. It connects strategy, process, people and systems, so the first steps are realistic and relevant. When the starting point is right, change becomes easier to guide — and much more likely to stick.

Is a better Salesforce dashboard really the answer?

When Salesforce lacks overview, the obvious response is often another dashboard. But more reporting does not automatically create more control. The real issue may lie in the way information is captured, responsibilities are organised or decisions are made.
